British Flight Crew Coverall
Suits are available in "A" and "B" variants, and all have slight differences in age & pocket styles. "A" and "B" models are the existence of the thigh-borne "pilots' pockets".Â
This jumpsuit is an iconic staple of His Majesty's Royal Airforce & it's not hard to see why: It's easy to don and doff, courtesy of the front zipper, and the velcro wrist straps and leg zippers give the jumpsuit a secure fit that's easy to remove in a pinch. There are also two velcro waist straps, allowing you to tighten it around the midsection, both keeping the coveralls in place and hugging your frame.
The coverall also incorporates Nomex construction, which allows for chemical and radiation protection—though the most common hazard you might encounter would be fire, and this jumpsuit is built to withstand flames and heat up to almost 700°F (don't try this at home).
Not one to leave their airmen unequipped, the RAF requested the design include a pair of zipped chest pockets so a pilot wouldn't lose important gear while pulling aerial maneuvers (and your cell phone or wallet won't fall out while you're tying your shoes). It also has an additional two waist-height side pockets, two hook&loop ankle pockets, and a pen pocket on the left sleeve. The MK14-A variant also features an extra pair of thigh pockets, perfect for navigating maps while flying if you're cool enough (but most likely driving, let's be honest)
